Adi Balkan, a healthcare activist and father, passed away on November 1, 2023 at the age of 45 years. Balkan was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2016, but he didn’t let the disease stop him from fighting for the right to healthcare for all.
Balkan was one of the leaders in saving the Affordable Care Act and campaigning for healthcare reform nationwide. He also co-founded the nonprofit organization Be A Hero, which seeks to expand access to health care.
In a statement, Balkan’s wife, Kim, said, „Adi was a wonderful father and husband and an amazing health care advocate. He fought for everyone’s right to access health care until the very end of his life.
Balkan’s legacy will continue to inspire the fight for everyone’s right to health care.
